Nordplay wins Finnish licence – runs five Swedish casinos

Finland’s gambling regulator, the National Police Board (Poliisihallitus), has approved Nordplay Group for a licence in the Finnish market. The approval came in late October 2026, from a company that already runs several Swedish-licensed casinos.
Nordplay will be able to offer gambling in Finland no earlier than 1 July 2027, when the country opens its market to private operators after decades of state monopoly.
What has changed
Nordplay Group, 7bet and SkillOnNet have become the latest operators to secure licence approval to enter Finland’s regulated iGaming market. The approvals from Finland’s National Police Board will enable the operators to launch in the market from 1 July 2027, joining ComeOn, SuomiVeto, Hippos ATG and Wildz Group as confirmed licencees to date. For Malta-based Nordplay, the approval marks a significant milestone in its expansion, adding to its operations in Sweden under the Onerush, Frank & Fred, Pop Casino, Jubla, and Klirr brands.
According to the regulator’s own figures, as of 26 October 79 gambling licence applications had been submitted, with 12 licences granted and zero rejected. Among the approved companies is Buccone Trading Limited, the same legal entity that already holds Nordplay’s Swedish licence for OneRush.
Lithuanian operator 7bet also received the green light. For 7bet, the Finnish approval marks the operator’s fourth licence, alongside its licences in Lithuania, the United Kingdom and Latvia. SkillOnNet, best known internationally for its PlayOJO brand, does not hold a Swedish licence.
What it means for you
If you already have an account with OneRush, Frank & Fred, Klirr, Pop Casino or Jubla, nothing changes for your play right now. The Finnish licence concerns a different market and won’t take effect before summer 2027 at the earliest. OneRush is run by Buccone Trading Limited, a Maltese company within Nordplay Group, and the site launched in October 2025 under a Spelinspektionen permit valid until 2 October 2028.
Because several Nordplay brands share the same Swedish licence holder, the rule of one bonus per licence holder applies across all of them. The bigger picture
The Nordplay group runs several well-known Swedish-licensed casinos: Frank & Fred launched in 2018, followed by Klirr, and in 2024–2025 the group added three more brands – Pop Casino, Jubla and most recently Onerush. The Finnish approval is a natural next step for a company already used to operating under strict regulation in Sweden.
It is also part of a wider wave of Sweden-based operators moving into Finland ahead of the market opening. Several of Nordplay’s competitors, including ComeOn, have recently taken the same step. Nothing changes for Swedish players in the short term, but the trend shows how intertwined the Nordic licensing markets are becoming.
