Betsson AB

Anyone looking for a Betsson AB casino with a Swedish licence will currently find four brands: Betsson, NordicBet, Betsafe and Jalla Casino. The group is listed in Stockholm, has no controlling principal owner and runs each Swedish brand through its own licensed company. In autumn 2026, Betsson itself also changed licensed company, which affects everyone who had an account there.
Below you can see which companies are behind the sites, what decisions Spelinspektionen (the Swedish Gambling Authority) has taken and how the structure affects bonuses and gambling limits. Several licence numbers come only from secondary sources and are therefore not given.
The group at a glance
The group’s roots go back to 1963 and AB Restaurang Rouletter, which later became Cherry. Today Betsson AB is a listed company without a controlling owner, with its registered office in Stockholm and its management in Malta.

Betsson AB casinos and licences in Sweden
None of the sites shares a licence holder. The licence numbers come only from affiliate sites, so check them in the register.
| Brand | Licence holder | Licence number | Licence valid until | Shares licence with |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Betsson | Spin Nordic Ltd (since 30 September 2026) | See Spelinspektionen’s licence register | 23 August 2031, according to industry media | None |
| NordicBet | NGG Nordic Ltd | See Spelinspektionen’s licence register | See Spelinspektionen’s licence register | None |
| Betsafe | BS Nordic Ltd | See Spelinspektionen’s licence register | See Spelinspektionen’s licence register | None |
| Jalla Casino | Auto Nordic Ltd, according to industry sources | See Spelinspektionen’s licence register | See Spelinspektionen’s licence register | None |
Spin Nordic Ltd is not mentioned in Betsson’s 2025 annual report, but it has the same address as the former licensed company Betsson Nordic Ltd. It is also unclear whether Betsson’s sports betting now sits under Spin Nordic or still under Betsson Nordic, whose licences are valid until 31 December 2028.
The annual report also mentions StarCasino, Racebets and Rizk as group brands, but we have found none of them with a Swedish licence. The same applies to CasinoEuro and Spelklubben. According to the trade press, Casino Winner has been closed down. The claim that one licence covers both Betsson and NordicBet dates from 2018 and is no longer correct.
One detail on which sources disagree is which forms of gambling Spin Nordic is licensed for. Some reports mention both casino and betting, others online gaming only. Until it is confirmed in the register, we do not reproduce either version.
Changes of ownership
We have found no change of ownership in Betsson AB during 2022–2026. The change that affects Swedish players concerns the licence structure instead:
- 24 August 2026: Spin Nordic Ltd receives a Swedish licence, according to industry media.
- 30 September 2026: Betsson moves to Spin Nordic Ltd. Existing accounts are closed and players have to register again.
According to the industry site Casinofeber, which cites Spelinspektionen, a Swedish licence cannot be transferred between two companies, not even within the same group. That is why new accounts are needed when a brand changes licensed company. The switch was followed by criticism from Swedish players of clause 8.9 in the new terms, in which Betsson reserves the right to refuse or restrict play for any reason.
Sanctions from Spelinspektionen
- Betsson Nordic Ltd, 28 May 2025: A warning and a penalty fee of 6,500,000 kronor for shortcomings in customer due diligence under the anti-money-laundering rules. The decision was published on 2 June 2025. According to Casinofeber, the Administrative Court rejected the company’s appeal on 2 July 2026.
- BS Nordic Ltd (Betsafe), 26 November 2025: A remark and an order concerning the duty to provide information. Among other things, the website lacked an organisation number, the licence’s period of validity, an email address and information about the risks of gambling, and the company had to add a phone number by 19 December 2025. No fee was charged.
The decision against BS Nordic shows what a Swedish licence holder must disclose on its website. If a Betsson AB casino lacks an organisation number, the licence’s period of validity or contact details in its footer, that is a shortcoming Spelinspektionen has acted on before. That information is also exactly what you need to check for yourself which company you are playing with.
The decisions are available in full from Spelinspektionen, where you can also search the licence register.
What it means for you as a player
The bonus rule in Spellagen, the Gambling Act, Chapter 14, Section 9, applies per licence holder. Because Betsson, NordicBet, Betsafe and Jalla Casino have different companies, a bonus at one of them does not in itself prevent an offer at another. We have not found any specific guidance from Spelinspektionen on brands within the same group, so always read the terms on each site.
If you had an account with Betsson before 30 September 2026, you need a new account with Spin Nordic. This means you also have to set new deposit limits per day, week and month. A lower limit applies immediately; a higher one no earlier than after 72 hours.
Checklist after the licence change
- Register again with an electronic ID, in practice usually BankID.
- Set new deposit limits – the old ones do not carry over to the new company.
- Read the new terms, especially the clause stating that play can be refused or restricted.
- Check in the footer that Spin Nordic Ltd is named as the licence holder.
The same principle applies if another brand in the group changes company in future: new company means new account and new limits. Whatever the company, you must always be able to exclude yourself immediately for 24 hours, as this is a requirement for everyone offering online casino under a Swedish licence.
Spelpaus, the national self-exclusion register, applies to every operator with a Swedish licence, so it covers all four sites regardless of licensed company. We describe how exclusion works step by step in our guide to Spelpaus and self-exclusion. If you need support, Stödlinjen, the helpline, is available on 020-819 100.
