Unibet sister sites

Unibet belongs to France’s FDJ United, which took over Kindred Group in 2024. Unibet’s Swedish sister sites are Maria Casino, Otto Casino and Storspelare. All four brands now have their own licence holder, after the group split up its old shared licence during 2025 and 2026.
That split makes Unibet’s sister sites one of the clearest examples of how the Swedish market has changed. Until 2025 all the group’s Swedish sites sat under one and the same company. Now each site has its own company and its own licence, and that affects bonuses, accounts and how you should compare them.
Unibet sister sites: brands in the same group
The table shows the situation in October 2026. The details come from the sites’ own footers and from trade press that has followed the licence changes.
| Brand | Licence holder | Licence number | Licence valid until | Shares licence with |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unibet | Kaprifol Services Limited | 25Si952 | 22 October 2030 | None |
| Maria Casino | Tussilago Limited | 25Si969 | 23 November 2030 | None |
| Otto Casino | Gullviva Services Limited | 25Si951 | 15 September 2030 | None |
| Storspelare | See the Spelinspektionen licence register | See the Spelinspektionen licence register | 19 January 2031 | None |
That Storspelare has had its own licence since 20 January 2026 is confirmed, but we have only seen the company name and licence number in secondary sources. That is why we refer to the register.
Otto Casino is the least known name among casinos like Unibet. It launched in 2024, and its footer does not mention the group, but its help centre is on Kindred’s platform and the trade press describes the site as an FDJ United brand. Bingo.se was previously part of the shared licence, but whether the site is still active in Sweden, and under which company, we have not been able to confirm.
Owner and background
Kindred Group was founded in 1997 as Unibet Group by Anders Ström and was listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. In autumn 2024 France’s FDJ made a public takeover offer. After the first settlement date on 11 October, FDJ owned 91.77 per cent, and after the offer was extended, 98.60 per cent. Kindred’s shares were traded for the last time on 11 November 2024.
On 6 March 2025 FDJ changed its name to FDJ United. The parent company is based in Boulogne-Billancourt in France and has been listed since 2019, while the companies holding the Swedish licences are registered in Malta.
Spooniker Ltd, previously Kindred’s shared licence holder, received a warning and a financial penalty of 10 million kronor in May 2025. Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Authority, judged the shortcomings in the company’s customer due diligence under the anti-money laundering rules to be serious and repeated. The administrative court rejected the appeal in July 2026. According to trade media, Kaprifol, the company behind Unibet, was placed under closer monitoring in April 2026 of how players’ deposits are followed up – this is not a sanction. More decisions and the full ownership history are on the page about the FDJ United casino group.
What the sister sites share and where they differ
From one licence to four
The split happened in stages. Otto Casino got its own licence on 16 September 2025, Unibet on 23 October 2025 and Storspelare on 20 January 2026. Maria Casino’s current licence runs until November 2030. At every switch the old accounts were closed and players had to register again.
The reason for the re-registration is that, according to the trade press, a Swedish gambling licence cannot be moved between two companies, not even within the same group. A new company has to be assessed for a licence of its own, and customers have to create accounts with the new company.
What sets the sites apart
The sites have the same owner, and Otto Casino’s help centre is on Kindred’s platform, which suggests the brands share some technology. Legally, however, they are four separate gambling companies, with their own customer accounts, their own terms and their own gambling limits.
- Range: Unibet is licensed for both online gambling and betting and also offers poker, while Maria Casino and Otto Casino are licensed for online gambling.
- Customer service: Unibet gives the licence holder’s own contact details, so Kaprifol is the company you deal with.
- Tools: Unibet offers, among other things, a deposit limit, self-exclusion and a player profile.

The bonus rule and Unibet’s sister sites
Under Chapter 14, Section 9 of Spellagen (the Gambling Act), it is the first occasion of play with the licence holder that decides whether a bonus may be given. How this worked with a shared licence is clear from Kindred’s own conduct. In a case from 2020, Spooniker stated that the company gave the welcome bonus once, regardless of which of its websites the customer registered on.
Today things are different. Since Unibet, Maria Casino, Otto Casino and Storspelare have different licence holders, each site can offer its own welcome bonus. FDJ United has not itself said that this was the motive for the split, so this is our reading of the effect, not the company’s explanation.
Within Unibet the rules are strict: one bonus per player, household and payment method, and you choose between casino, betting or poker. Unibet also states a maximum stake of 25 kr per game or spin while the bonus is active. Offer checked on 15 October 2026. Terms and conditions apply.
The bonus question has a history in the group. Spooniker received a warning and a financial penalty for prohibited bonuses in a decision from 2020. According to the trade press, the penalty was reduced to 30 million kronor and the decision became final in 2024.
Spelpaus and limits at the sister sites
Spelpaus, the national self-exclusion register, covers every gambling company with a Swedish licence, including the new licence holders. While you have an active exclusion, you therefore cannot play at any of the FDJ United sites, however many times the sites change licence holder. You choose between 10 days, 1, 3 or 6 months, or until further notice.
Limits, on the other hand, are set with each company separately. Every licence holder must ask you to set a deposit limit per day, week and month, so a new account after a change of licence also means a new limit. A site’s own exclusion feature only applies at that company. Stödlinjen, the national gambling helpline, can be reached on 020-819 100 and at stodlinjen.se.
How to compare Unibet’s sister sites
- Check that the footer names the right company – after the licence changes, older details are often wrong.
- Compare which forms of gambling the site is licensed for: casino, betting or both.
- Read the wagering requirements, maximum stake and validity period before accepting a bonus.
- Look at which payment methods are available. Credit cards may not be used for gambling since 1 May 2026.
- Find out which limits and break features exist and how easy they are to change.
If you are unsure which company is behind a site, you can search the licence register at Spelinspektionen. There every licence holder is shown together with the websites covered.
More sister sites to compare
FDJ United is not the only group that has changed licence holder. Betsson moved its Swedish site to a new company in autumn 2026, and how that affects the group’s brands is described under Betsson’s sister sites.
Frequently asked questions
Which are Unibet’s sister sites?
Maria Casino, Otto Casino and Storspelare are owned by the same group as Unibet, FDJ United. Each site has its own Swedish licence through a company of its own.
Why did I have to register again at Unibet?
On 23 October 2025 Unibet moved to a new licence holder, Kaprifol Services Limited. According to the trade press, a Swedish licence cannot be moved between companies, so the old accounts were closed and players had to create new ones.
Can I get a welcome bonus at both Unibet and Maria Casino?
The bonus rule applies per licence holder. Since Unibet and Maria Casino have different licence holders, a bonus at one does not in itself prevent a bonus at the other. The terms at each site decide.
Who owns Unibet today?
Unibet belongs to Kindred Group, which since 2024 has been owned by France’s FDJ, which changed its name to FDJ United in March 2025. Kindred was delisted from Nasdaq Stockholm in November 2024.
Does Spelpaus cover all FDJ United sites?
Yes. Spelpaus applies to every gambling company with a Swedish licence, including the new companies that have taken over Unibet and its sister sites. An exclusion made directly at one site, however, only applies at that company.
