Casino networks in Sweden

By Johan Ekström · Fact-checked by Linnea Dahl against Spelinspektionen's licence register · Updated 16 October 2026

A casino network is a group that runs several casinos under different brands. Here we present the five gambling groups we follow on the Swedish market – LeoVegas Group, FDJ United, evoke, Betsson AB and ComeOn Group – and which brands with a Swedish licence belong to each. Every group also has its own page with owners, licence holders, changes of ownership and decisions by Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Authority.

The information was checked in October 2026. We only report what we have been able to verify, and where a detail is missing or uncertain we say so rather than guess.

What is a casino network?

In everyday speech, a casino network simply means all the casinos that share an owner. Legally the picture is more divided. At the top is the group, which may be listed, privately owned or itself owned by another company. Below it are one or more licence holders with a Swedish licence, and below them are the brands you meet as a player.

Why does it matter who owns a casino? The owner controls much of what is not visible on the surface: how the company approaches responsible gambling, how anti-money laundering checks are handled and how the company has acted when Spelinspektionen has reviewed its business. Brands in the same group often carry the same way of working, for better and for worse.

Group, licence holder and brand

It is the licence holder that holds the licence, not the group. That is why the licence holder receives the decisions of Spelinspektionen, and it is also the licence holder to which the bonus rule in Chapter 14, Section 9 of Spellagen (the Gambling Act) is tied: a licence holder may only offer a bonus the first time a player plays any of the company’s games.

The gambling groups have organised their licence holders in different ways. LeoVegas Group, Betsson AB and ComeOn Group have one licence holder per Swedish brand. FDJ United moved to the same model in 2025–2026, after previously grouping all its Swedish sites in one company. Within evoke, Mr Green has its own licence holder, while according to a decision by Spelinspektionen the 888 sites share the company 888 Sweden Limited.

According to trade media, a Swedish licence cannot be moved between companies, not even within the same group. That explains why players at Unibet and Storspelare, among others, had to register again when the sites changed licence holder.

The difference shows clearly in an older decision. When Kindred’s Swedish sites shared the licence holder Spooniker Ltd, the company stated in a case before Spelinspektionen in 2020 that the welcome bonus was only paid out once, regardless of which of its websites the customer registered on. Under today’s set-up, each brand has its own company.

How to find the owner behind a casino

  1. Scroll to the very bottom of the casino’s website and find the licence holder’s name and licence details.
  2. Search for the company name in the licence register of Spelinspektionen to check that the licence is valid.
  3. Compare with the group pages here, where we link the licence holders to the right owner.

The gambling groups at a glance

The table summarises owners, listing status and Swedish brands for the five groups. Confirmed licence details per brand can be found on each group page and in the Spelinspektionen licence register.

Each group in brief

LeoVegas Group was bought by MGM Resorts in 2022 and left the Stockholm stock exchange at that point. The group has four Swedish brands, each with its own licence holder, and in April 2026 sports betting was launched on GoGoCasino.

FDJ United was previously called FDJ and changed its name in March 2025, after buying Kindred during 2024. Since then the Swedish sites have been given their own licence holders. The background is on the page about FDJ United and Kindred.

evoke is the former 888 Holdings, which changed its name in 2024. Mr Green joined the group in 2022 through the purchase of William Hill’s international business. A takeover by Bally’s Intralot has been approved by the shareholders but had not been completed in September 2026. Read more about evoke and the 888 sites.

Betsson AB is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm and has not changed owner during the period we follow. According to trade media, Betsson’s Swedish casino business was moved to the licence holder Spin Nordic Ltd on 30 September 2026.

ComeOn Group is owned by Cherry AB. In autumn 2024 it was reported that a sale was being explored, but we have not seen any deal completed. Reviant, which launched in April 2026, is counted by Gambling Insider as part of the group. See ComeOn Group’s Swedish brands.

Casumo – an independent gambling company

Not every well-known casino is part of a network. Casumo is privately owned, has a single Swedish brand and operates under the licence holder Oddit Limited with licence number 23Si773. According to the sources we have reviewed, the company is not part of any larger gambling group. We describe this in more detail on the page about Casumo and its ownership structure.

Sanctions from Spelinspektionen

Sanctions are aimed at the licence holder, but they often say something about how the whole group works. The table shows the decisions against companies in the groups above and against Casumo that we have been able to verify for 2025–2026.

For ComeOn Group, the decision against Snabbare Ltd is the only one we have found for 2023–2026. Mr Green Limited within evoke has an older decision from 2021 that became final in 2024, but the sources give different amounts, so we do not report it here.

What it means for you as a player

The group behind a casino does not affect which laws apply – every gambling company with a Swedish licence follows the same Gambling Act. But the structure affects a few things in practice:

  • Bonus: the rule applies per licence holder. Brands with their own licence holder can each give a welcome bonus, while sites that share a company share the bonus.
  • Spelpaus: an exclusion via Spelpaus.se, the national self-exclusion register, applies at every gambling company with a Swedish licence, regardless of group.
  • Limits: deposit limits are set with each gambling company separately, per day, week and month.
  • Changes of ownership: if a site changes licence holder, you may need to register and set your limits again.

If you would rather start from a single casino than from a group, each brand’s relatives are gathered under casino sister sites. And wherever you play: decide your limits in advance. Stödlinjen, the national gambling helpline (020-819 100), is there for anyone who wants to talk about their gambling.
