Wagering requirements explained

Wagering requirements explained

A wagering requirement tells you how much you must stake before money belonging to a bonus can be withdrawn. The number before the x says little on its own, though. What matters is what it is multiplied by, and that differs between operators – even between sister sites with the same owner.

Here you get wagering requirements explained on the basis of how the terms are actually written at Swedish operators in October 2026. We show four real set-ups, calculate them with the same made-up deposit and go through the terms that usually matter more than the multiple itself.

What do wagering requirements mean?

Wagering is the total of all the stakes you place, regardless of whether you win or lose on each individual round. The requirement (omsättningskrav in Swedish) is expressed as a multiple of a basis. The formula is always the same: basis × multiple = amount to be staked.

What varies is the basis. The terms can tie the requirement to the deposit, to the bonus or to both together. At some operators the bonus is also only paid out once the requirement has been met, instead of being locked in from the start. That is why the first thing to look for in the terms is not the number, but the word after it.

Four real set-ups – and three different bases

The table shows how four operators with a Swedish licence word their requirements for casino. We only compare the terms, not which offer is best.

BrandOwnerRequirement according to the termsBasisTime
LeoVegasLeoVegas Group10xThe deposit. The bonus is paid out as real money once the requirement is met60 days
Mr Greenevoke25xThe deposit. Free spin winnings do not need to be wagered60 days
CasumoIndependent20xDeposit plus bonus. Free spin winnings are wagered 10x60 days
ComeOnComeOn Group20xThe bonus60 days

The information comes from the operators’ own terms and websites. ComeOn’s terms are based on the casino’s website in October 2026. Offers checked on 15 October 2026. Terms and conditions apply, and offers change often, so always read the current version at the operator.

Calculating wagering requirements on the same deposit

To see how much difference the basis makes, we work through a made-up case. Suppose you deposit 300 kr and receive a 100 per cent bonus, i.e. 300 kr. The amounts are chosen to make the arithmetic clear. The real offers have other percentages and caps.

Set-upCalculationTotal to stake
10x the deposit300 × 103000 kr
20x the bonus300 × 206000 kr
25x the deposit300 × 257500 kr
20x deposit plus bonus(300 + 300) × 2012000 kr

The two rows with 20x differ by a factor of two, even though the figure in the terms is the same. And 25x on the deposit requires less play than 20x on deposit plus bonus. The conclusion is simple: never compare two offers on the multiple alone – work out the total amount for the deposit you yourself plan to make.

Sister sites: same owner, their own terms

It is easy to assume that brands in the same group have the same bonus terms. That is not necessarily the case. Each brand sets its own terms, and most large groups now have a separate licence holder for each brand. We explain how this fits together in our guide to how sister sites work.

Terms can differ even within one and the same brand. According to LeoVegas’s terms page in October 2026, the live casino offer has 35x wagering within 60 days, while the casino offer has 10x on the deposit. According to its promotions page in October 2026, Mr Green shows several options for new players, including a bonus with 10x wagering and a maximum stake of 100 kr per round. You can only choose one of them, because the bonus is tied to the licence holder.

That rule comes from Spellagen, the Swedish Gambling Act: a licence holder may only give a bonus on the first occasion of play. We describe how it plays out between sister sites with different or shared licence holders in our guide to bonus rules in Sweden.

Terms that matter more than the multiple

Maximum stake

While the requirement is active there is often a cap on how much you may stake per round. According to their terms, Casumo sets the cap at 50 kr and Unibet at 25 kr per game or spin. A low cap means it takes more rounds to meet the requirement.

Game contribution

Not all games count in full. In LeoVegas’s terms, most slots contribute 100 per cent, but some titles 70 per cent and many are excluded entirely. Most table games contribute 10 per cent and live games not at all. A hypothetical example: if you stake 1,000 kr on a slot with a 70 per cent contribution, 700 kr counts towards the requirement.

Free spins

Free spin winnings may have their own requirement or none at all. At Mr Green they do not need to be wagered; at Casumo 10x applies. Taking a made-up win of 80 kr with 10x, that means 800 kr in stakes before the winnings can be withdrawn.

Time

All four set-ups in the table above give 60 days. At LeoVegas the time is split into stages: 60 days to activate, 60 days to meet the requirement and 60 days to claim the bonus.

Wagering requirements explained step by step: how to read the terms

Bonus terms are often long, but most of what you need is in a few lines. Read them in this order and you will quickly get a picture of what the offer requires of you:

  1. The basis. Does it say deposit, bonus or deposit plus bonus? That determines everything else.
  2. The multiple. Work out the total amount for your own deposit, not for the maximum amount in the advert.
  3. When the bonus is paid out. Is it locked in from the start or paid out only once the requirement is met?
  4. Maximum stake and game contribution. Do the cap and contribution suit the games you actually tend to play?
  5. The time. Can you make it without playing more than you had intended?
  6. Who gives the bonus. Check the licence holder, so you know whether you have already used your welcome bonus with the same company.

The last point is easy to skip, but it matters when you have accounts with several brands in the same group. ComeOn Group, for example, has several Swedish brands, each with its own licence holder, as you can see in our overview of ComeOn’s sister sites. There, then, it is each site’s own terms that apply.

A tip is to write down the total amount you have calculated before accepting. If the sum feels unreasonable compared with how you usually play, that is a sign the offer is not right for you. Declining a bonus is always a perfectly reasonable choice.

Common mistakes when comparing terms

  • Comparing x with x. Without the basis, the multiple tells you almost nothing.
  • Assuming a sister site’s terms. Each brand has its own requirements.
  • Forgetting the maximum stake when switching games. The cap applies whichever game you choose.
  • Missing excluded games. A game with a 0 per cent contribution does not bring you any closer to the requirement.
  • Playing more to finish in time. A bonus should give you playing time, not dictate how much you play.

Unsure who is behind an offer? The licence holder’s name is in the footer and can be checked in Spelinspektionen’s licence register.

Decide on your deposit limit before you accept a bonus – with operators holding a Swedish licence it is mandatory. If you want to pause all gambling, you can do so at spelpaus.se, Spelpaus being the national self-exclusion register, and Stödlinjen, the helpline, can be reached on 020-819 100.

Frequently asked questions

What do wagering requirements mean?

Wagering requirements (omsättningskrav in Swedish) state how much you must stake in total before money linked to a bonus can be withdrawn. The requirement is written as a multiple, for example 20x, and multiplied by a basis set out in the terms. The basis can be the deposit, the bonus or both.

Do sister sites have the same wagering requirements?

Not necessarily. Terms are set per brand, and sister sites with different licence holders have their own welcome offers with their own requirements. So read the terms on each site rather than assuming what applies at another site in the same group.

How do I calculate the wagering requirement?

Find out what the requirement is calculated on and multiply it by the number before the x. With a hypothetical requirement of 20x deposit plus bonus, and a 300 kr deposit and 300 kr bonus, it comes to 600 × 20 = 12,000 kr. Then consider the game contribution of the games you plan to play.

Do free spin winnings also have to be wagered?

It depends on the offer. With some operators, free spin winnings are free of requirements; with others they have their own requirement. It is stated in the terms of the individual offer.

Can I choose between several welcome offers?

Sometimes the same operator offers several alternatives, for example a deposit bonus or free spins. Because a bonus may only be given on the first occasion of play with a licence holder, you can usually only choose one of them. So compare the terms before you decide.
