How we review
How we review: every piece of information about licences, owners and sister sites on Hitta.casino must be traceable to a public source, and anything that cannot be confirmed is not published. Here we describe how the checks work, which sources we use and what to do if you find an error.
In the footer this page is called “How we review”, but we do not give ratings. Hitta.casino does not rank casinos or award scores. We map who owns what in the Swedish licensed market, and this page explains the method behind the map.
How we check licence holders and licence numbers
The foundation is the licence register kept by Spelinspektionen (the Swedish Gambling Authority). It shows which companies hold a valid licence in Sweden, what type of licence it is and which websites the company uses for its gambling. When we state that a brand is operated by a particular licence holder, this is based on the register, on a decision by Spelinspektionen or on the company’s own footer, and less certain sources are named on the page.
The licence holder is the legal entity that has been granted the licence – not the brand you see on screen. One company can run several websites, and one group can have several licence-holding companies. That is why we always report the licence holder separately from the brand.
We only print licence numbers and validity periods when we have a reliable source for them. Information that only appears on other comparison sites is not enough for us. In those cases the table says “See Spelinspektionen’s licence register”, so that you can check for yourself.
Ownership and groups
Who owns a gambling operator is rarely clear from the casino itself. We therefore go to the companies’ own documents: annual reports, interim reports and press releases. Acquisitions, mergers and name changes are recorded with the date given in the source.
When a brand changes licence holder within the same group, we treat it as new information to be checked from scratch. According to industry media, a Swedish gambling licence cannot be transferred between companies, so a change in practice means that another company in the group has obtained its own licence.
What we mean by a sister site
On Hitta.casino a sister site is a casino owned by the same group as another casino. Ownership is what counts – not that the sites look alike, use the same game providers or have similar offers.
Sister sites may have the same licence holder or different ones. The difference matters, because the bonus rule in Chapter 14, Section 9 of Spellagen (the Gambling Act) applies per licence holder. If two brands have the same licence holder, they share one and the same welcome offer. If they have different licence holders, each may offer a bonus the first time you play there. That is why we always state which licence holder each sister site has.
How reliable the information is
Not all sources carry the same weight. We divide information into three levels, and the level decides whether and how a detail is shown:
| Level | Type of source | How the information is shown |
|---|---|---|
| High | Public authority, statute or the company’s own official documents | Stated directly |
| Medium | Two consistent reputable sources, or one reputable source with no contradictions | Stated but attributed to the source, for example “according to the company’s press release” |
| Low or none | A single source with contradictions, or no source at all | Not published – we refer to the licence register |
This means that a table sometimes contains fewer details than you might expect. We prefer a reference to the register over a figure we cannot stand behind. If two sources disagree on a detail, we leave the detail out until it has been resolved.
What we do not review
We have not opened accounts, made deposits or requested withdrawals at the operators we describe, and we have not contacted their customer service as customers. We therefore do not comment on how fast withdrawals are or how support works in practice. When we mention terms, we report what the operator itself states.
Nor do we assess the game selection, design or entertainment value. Those are questions where your own taste decides, and they cannot be checked against a source.
Dates and updates
Every page shows when the information was last checked. Licences, owners and brands change, and the date makes it easy to see how fresh the information is. When there are major changes – a new licence holder, an acquisition or a decision by Spelinspektionen – we go through the pages affected.
Offers change more often than licences. Where we mention an offer, we state when it was checked and that the operator’s terms and conditions apply.
Sanctions and supervision
Spelinspektionen publishes its supervisory decisions, such as warnings, remarks and administrative fines. When we write about a group, we include decisions concerning its Swedish licence holders and refer to the decision itself. We report them factually and without our own judgements.
We only state that no decisions exist if we have actually gone through the material for the period in question. If you want to check a company yourself, the Swedish licence register is the right place to start.
Corrections
Even with this method, errors can slip through, and the market sometimes changes faster than we can update. If you see information that is wrong – especially about licence holders or ownership – we would like to know. Send a message via our contact page and, ideally, include a source.
Every piece of information sent in is checked against the sources before we change anything. If it is correct, we fix the page and update the date of the last check. The same source requirement therefore applies to our own corrections too.
Frequently asked questions
Does Hitta.casino rate casinos?
No. In the footer the page is called “How we review”, but we do not rank casinos or award scores. We report owners, licence holders and rules.
Where does the licence information come from?
Mainly from Spelinspektionen’s decisions and licence register and from the operators’ own footers. Ownership details are taken from annual reports, press releases and in some cases the trade press, which we then state.
What does it mean that two casinos are sister sites?
That they are owned by the same group. They may have the same or different licence holders, and that decides whether they share one welcome offer under the bonus rule.
Why are licence numbers missing for some casinos?
We only print licence numbers that we have been able to confirm in a reliable source. Where there is none, we refer you to Spelinspektionen’s licence register instead of guessing.
