Guides
Our casino guides explain the rules and structures behind Swedish casinos: how sister sites fit together, what a Swedish licence means, how wagering requirements are calculated, what the bonus rules say and how Spelpaus works. The guides are written so that you can make your own decisions, not to sell you a particular casino.
Every guide is based on the text of the law, decisions by Spelinspektionen (the Swedish Gambling Authority) and the authorities’ own information. We state when the information was last checked and update the guides when the rules change.
What our casino guides cover
The guides are organised around the questions that come up most often when comparing casinos with a Swedish licence. All our casino guides follow the same format: each one starts with a short answer and then goes through the explanation, examples and common mistakes.
- How sister sites work – groups, licence holders and brands, and why the licence holder matters more than the name of the site.
- Swedish licence vs foreign licence – what a licence from Spelinspektionen gives you in terms of protection, limits and tax-free winnings.
- Wagering requirements explained – how to work out what a bonus actually demands before the money can be withdrawn.
- Bonus rules in Sweden – the rule that a bonus is only allowed on the first occasion, and why it applies per licence holder.
- Spelpaus and self-exclusion – how to exclude yourself from all licensed gambling and what the exclusion covers.
Terms that recur in the guides
A few words appear in almost every guide. Here is a short explanation of each:
- Licence holder – the company that has been granted a licence by Spelinspektionen and is responsible for the gambling. A casino can have a different name from its licence holder.
- Group – the owner behind one or more licence holders and brands.
- Wagering requirements (omsättningskrav) – how many times a bonus, and sometimes the deposit, has to be played through before the money can be withdrawn.
- Deposit limit – the upper limit per day, week and month that you must set with every gambling company holding a Swedish licence.
- Spelpaus – the national self-exclusion register run by Spelinspektionen.
Where should you start?
If you are new to Hitta.casino, the guide on sister sites is a good place to start, because it explains how the rest of the site is built. It answers the question what are sister sites and shows how you can find the licence holder behind a casino yourself.
If you are considering a welcome bonus, it is wise to understand first how the terms are calculated. Work it out like this: a 1,000 kr bonus with a 35x wagering requirement means you have to stake 35,000 kr before the bonus can be withdrawn. The full calculation is in the guide wagering requirements explained.
How our casino guides are produced
Each casino guide is written by an editor responsible for the subject and is based on sources such as the Gambling Act, the Gambling Ordinance and decisions and information from Spelinspektionen. When a rule has changed, we state the date from which it applies, for example the extended ban on gambling on credit that came into force on 1 May 2026.
We have not played at the casinos we write about and make no claims about our own tests. Where we describe how a gambling company does things, we refer to the company’s own terms. If you want to check a detail about licences, you can search the Spelinspektionen licence register yourself.
Help if gambling becomes a problem
No guide turns gambling for money into a way of earning money. Decide how much time and money you want to spend before you start, and use the limits that every gambling company with a Swedish licence must offer.
If you need a break, Spelpaus.se, the national self-exclusion register, can exclude you from every licensed gambling company, from 10 days up to until further notice. Advice is available from Stödlinjen, the national gambling helpline, by phone on 020-819 100 or in the chat at stodlinjen.se.
