Betsson posts record revenue as profit slumps 44 percent

Betsson AB reported record third-quarter revenue on 22 October 2026. At the same time, operating profit dropped 31 percent compared with the same period last year. Despite the weaker bottom line, the share price rose as the market reacted positively to the report.
What has changed
Group revenue rose 10 percent to €326.5 million in the third quarter, up from €295.8 million a year earlier, beating analyst expectations of €314 million, with organic growth of 8 percent. At the same time, EBIT fell from €66.9 million to €46.1 million, a drop of 31 percent, while the operating margin fell from 22.6 percent to 14.1 percent.
EBITDA fell to €63.4 million, down from €82.5 million in the same period last year, though the outcome was slightly better than analyst expectations of €62 million. Net profit fell 44 percent to €28.2 million. Despite the falling profitability, shares were trading up 5.8 percent during the first hour of trading on Thursday after the report was published.
The casino business continued to grow and drove most of the revenue increase, while the sportsbook was held back by a lower margin. The Nordic markets, which include Sweden, performed weaker and lost revenue compared with last year. During the quarter, Betsson also completed its acquisition of Rhino Entertainment, and the Belgian brand betFIRST was rebranded to Betsson.
What this means for you
If you have an account with Betsson or one of the group’s other brands, the quarterly report does not affect your ongoing bets, deposits or withdrawals. It concerns the company’s profitability, not how individual accounts or licences are managed. Several of Betsson’s brands in Sweden share the same licence holder, which means you can only claim one welcome bonus per licence holder, regardless of which brand you sign up with.
The dip in Nordic revenue this quarter likely reflects tougher competition and a more mature Swedish market rather than any change in terms for players. If you want to see which sites belong to the same group, you can read more about Betsson’s sister sites. If you need a break from gambling, Spelpaus.se lets you exclude yourself from all licensed gambling, and Stödlinjen.se offers support if gambling starts to feel like a problem.
The bigger picture
The report continues a pattern seen at Betsson throughout 2026. The company issued several profit warnings earlier in the year, including ahead of the first quarter, when a shrinking B2B business and rising gambling taxes squeezed profitability. A growing share of revenue now comes from locally regulated markets, increasing exposure to national gambling taxes, a trend also seen among other operators in the Swedish market this year.
At the same time, the third quarter shows that growth in customer numbers and casino revenue is holding up, and that the market is willing to look past weaker profits as long as turnover keeps rising. The acquisition of Rhino Entertainment and the rebuilding of the Belgian brand show that Betsson continues to expand its business despite the pressure on profitability.
